Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Friday announced as “vegan zones” a 500-meter region encompassing the renowned journey locales of Somnath sanctuary in Saurashtra and Ambaji sanctuary in north Gujarat.
The declaration was made by Rupani at a social affair in Palanpur in Banaskantha area, around 145 km from here.
The move implies that non-vegan nourishment, for example, meat and chicken, can’t be sold close to the premises of these two sanctuaries.
While the Somnath sanctuary is in Gir-Somnath locale, the Ambaji sanctuary is in Banaskantha region.
“I therefore announce a 500-meter zone encompassing the journey places – Somnath and Ambaji – as veggie lover zones. Starting now and into the foreseeable future, there will be a complete restriction on moving non-veggie lover nourishment in these territories,” Rupani told the social occasion.
A few religious outfits and the occupants of these journey focuses had been requesting such a measure since long.
Both the sanctuaries are top religious destinations for Hindus, pulling in explorers from everywhere throughout the nation just as abroad.
